How many of us are going through panic right about now because, well, bikini season. The truth is, your value doesn’t depend on how toned you butt is, how flat your stomach is, or how you look in a bikini.
Just yesterday I tried a new bikini out and started falling for the ‘perfect body’ rubbish again. I was more disappointed that I was running those negative thoughts through my brain than I was with my perfectly un-perfect body.
I’m tired of feeling like this. I’m tired of feeling less of a human because I don’t have a movie star physique. News flash – they are paid to look good!
The truth is, this bikini fear, along with all the other fears we harbour, they are all BORING. Elizabeth Gilbert sums it up perfectly in this video.
“Here’s what I’m going to tell you about your fear: It’s the most boring thing about you,” Gilbert says.”The most interesting thing about you is your creativity, your passion, your love, your joy, your faith — all that stuff is fascinating.”
Here’s an idea, how about we all give ourselves and others a break. Stop the judgement and just focus on your creativity, passion, love, joy, and faith instead.
Keep your body healthy, of course! We all need a bit of exercise to keep our hearts and minds healthy, but don’t let it define you. You are worth so much more than the shape of your body.
This December, I’m going to be less about physical appearance and more about what’s going on inside, how about you?
