Staying true to their motto, Cafe Billi Bi offers an incredible selection of REAL food with incredible flavours. I’ve visited for breakfast, lunch, and tea and, let me tell you, I’ve only ever been impressed.
From the quirky decor to the friendly staff, you really get the feeling that you’re home in this cafe.
After dining in Europe where franchises are few and far between – mainly for the American tourists (think McDonald’s and Hard Rock Cafe) – I have come to really appreciate proudly South African restaurants that have broken the franchise mold.
What those tiny European restaurants have in common with Cafe Billi Bi is passion! That passion resonates in that restaurant, you can feel that energy radiating from the menu and out of the kitchen. These people live and breathe their passion for food and it is so refreshing!
Cooking is like love, it should be entered into without abandon or not at all – Harriet van Horne
The boy and I enjoyed a delightful Sunday morning breakfast and, goodness, our taste buds were in for a treat! He ordered a croissant with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, fresh avo, and rosa tomatoes …
… and I ordered their smoked salmon with poached eggs, fresh asparagus and a light cheese sauce served on rye toast .
The magic in Billi Bi’s food is in its simplicity with, as they put it, ‘gourmet twists’.
Among my favourites on the menu are:
- French toast with bacon, roasted baby tomatoes, mushrooms and rocket
- Very Crispy Fish and Chips – panko crumbled hake goujons, thick cut chips and Billi Bi’s special tartare sauce
- Salmon Haloumi Wrap – with avo
- Both the Red Velvet and Carrot Cake
